After the spring term, around 80 pupils will be transferred to the Tiilikankaan school.

The Hollola Municipal Council, which met on Monday, did not give in to a petition to keep the Hälvälä school.

In about a month and a half, the parents’ committee collected more than five hundred signatures on the *Keep the Hälvälä school* citizens’ initiative. The petition was signed by 474 Hollola residents.

The long-discussed fate of the Hälvälä school was finally sealed after a vote. Of the councillors, 24 voted in favour and 19 against.

Hollola’s welfare committee and the municipal government had previously discussed both initiatives, and ended up proposing that Hälvälä school be closed down.

After the spring semester, about 80 students from the Hälvälä school will transfer to the Tiilikanka school.

After two years, there are plans to transfer students from Tiilikanka school to Salpakkanka school.
