Light frost and people preparing in advance for the change in weather conditions saved trouble.
The Päijät-Häme Rescue Service reports that the snowfall that continued through the night has been managed without any accidents.
People have taken the advance warnings seriously, which has saved a lot of trouble, the authorities say.
In Kanta-Häme, too, there has been little damage. The Rescue Department has been informed of two road accidents.
There were three alarms during the evening and night for tasks related to snowfall and clearing fallen trees.
– At some observation stations, the wind removed the snow, which means that up to 10 centimeters could be lost from the snow depth in some places.
According to the data from the observation stations, 20–55 centimeters more snow fell in Häme.
For example, in Lahti’s Sopenkorve and Lammi’s Pappila, the snow depth was over 40 centimeters on Tuesday morning.
According to Koivisto’s car and Lehtimäki traffic, local buses in the Lahti region were able to run almost as normal on Tuesday morning. Some buses had difficulties on Monday evening on the small roads in Orimattila due to heavy snow.
According to the city of Hämeenlinna, the public transport services on Tuesday have fallen somewhat behind their schedules due to heavy snowfall and therefore heavy travel.
