Lahti Pesäkallio Summer Theater is moving to Hollola
The summer theater found new suitable facilities in the neighboring municipality. The place requires renovation, but the premiere is planned until the end of June.
Pesäkallio Summer Theater will move from Lahti to Salpakangas in Hollola.
As soon as the snow melts, the area will be cleared for the performance.
– The supper is waterproofed and pushed because it has not been used for about twenty years, says Sulalampi.
The benches and stairs of the audience have to be renewed. In addition, the actors need to get facilities for dress.
Sulalampi estimates that renovation work will cost tens of thousands of euros. Part of it is paid for by the association, but Leader funding is also requested for the renovation.
– We currently have a fairly reasonable financial situation thanks to a few good years. We set off for a new rise after the corona year.
As a dream covered
The association has been operating in Pesäkallio since 2008.
According to Sulalampi, a new place has been sought for the theater for several years, as the Pesäkallio premises have begun to become inadequate.
He says that feedback on indoor air has also received feedback from both viewers and his own employees.
– The city of Lahti was offered indoors, including a maple gym, but they do not really fit our summer theater vision. The canopy of the audience has also been somehow impossible in Pesäkallio.
According to Sulalampi, the municipality of Hollola was actively working to get a summer theater inside the municipal borders.
He believes that the association will find enough funding or partners so that the summer theater will also receive a covered auditorium in the future.
The Hollola municipality has granted Lahti Living Art Association, through the decision of the official, to use the right to the Heinsuo Summer Theater Area.
The summer theater change to Hollola was first reported by Southern Finland Sanomat.
