Marjatta and Eino Kolli Foundation made a major donation to LUT University. The donation is looking for new solutions for bio -processing.

The Marjatta and the Eino Kolli Foundation donates a total of EUR 2.5 million to the LUT University and Lab University of Applied Sciences.

The donation will be directed on the Lahti campus for three different purposes: Lut’s resignation technology research, Lut’s new construction and community engineering education, and Lab’s wood technology and construction training.

\”We do not jam donation to the balance sheet, but we hire as many people as possible who work hard here for decades from now on,\” Germany assures.

Most of the donation is provided by Luti’s bioregation resolution research, supported by the Kolli Foundation for EUR 350,000 a year for five years. The support allows researchers to develop science -based solutions for modern biorefinery plants to make them more and more sustainable use of available biomass in Finland and abroad.

The youngest university city in Finland will strengthen its position

– Lahti is the youngest university city in Finland and our beginning here has been explosive. Additional growth means more staff, which will also be reflected in the training side, recalls Rector Germany

The Foundation also wants to strengthen Finland’s expertise as a leading international developer of the bioeconomy while the EU is seeking to strengthen the bioeconomy in Europe.

– The potential of forest -based bioeconomy has not previously been recognized in the EU, although they support both European competitiveness and green transition. I hope that investment projects will receive better support from the EU in the future, Kolli hopes.
