The grant will amount to a maximum of €105 000 to ensure the operation of the route until the end of March 2023.

The South Karelia Regional Government has awarded a grant for the operation of scheduled flights between Lappeenranta and Bergamo, Italy.

The grant comes from the South Karelia Development Fund. The maximum amount of the grant is 105 000 euros.

The purpose of the grant awarded to the Saimaa Airport Foundation is to ensure the continuation of the current scheduled flight until the end of March 2023.

Nearly €260 000 collected from municipalities

Almost 260,000 euros have been collected from municipalities for the development of tourism and accessibility in the province to the South Karelia development fund managed by the county association.

The municipalities of the province allocated two euros per inhabitant to the fund.

The funding collected from municipalities was a one-off.
