Jouni Haikarainen, Managing Director of Lahti Energia, says that the company has looked at the terms it uses in order to comply with future EU regulations. Archive picture.

The change is due to future EU regulation, which aims to reduce the green washing of companies.

Lahti Energia gives up the Green Heat of the district heating. In the future, the name of the district heating certified with the original guarantees will be shown in the invoice under the name of the origin of heat.

The name change is due to future EU regulation, which is intended, among other things, to reduce the so-called green wash of companies. One example of green washing is marketing terms that can be misleading.

In October, the Consumer Ombudsman reported the misleading marketing of 15 bioenergy companies. Lahti Energia was also mentioned among the companies.

-We are slowly making changes in order to accurately follow what EU directives require. So the product still exists, the name is just changing, says Haikarainen.

The district heating marketed under the name of the origin of the heat is produced by Lahti Energia, according to renewable energy sources and certified with the use of origin guarantees.

Name change does not cause consumers, but the content of the service remains unchanged.
