Kulttuuritila 22 has been open in the centre of Mikkeli since the beginning of July. The number of visitors has been around two thousand.
Culture Space 22, run by the performing arts cooperative Kaukasus, did not receive further funding from the Kone Foundation for the period 2023-2024.
– It is disappointing. Especially for the people of Mikkeli and its cultural scene. However, we feel that as an experiment the space was successful and we demonstrated the need for such an activity.
Culture space 22 has been open since the beginning of July. In addition to the nine members of the Caucasus, the space has employed one hundred artists. By the beginning of December, almost 2 000 people had visited the space.
Before the end of the activity, at least some exhibition activity can be seen in the space. On the last weekend of January, the cultural space is one of the side destinations of Työväen’s stage days.
Otherwise, the operation of the Caucasus will continue as normal.
The next production is the performative installation Two grandmas went to blueberry – the other one didn’t fit, which will be performed in the fall of 2023.
