A number of Hanko people cleaned the beaches even before the rescue service arrived. The substance has already been found in new areas.

The white substance found on the beaches of Hanko on Sunday is still a mystery, the Western Uusimaa Rescue Department reports.

The composition of the substance has not yet been confirmed from the laboratory, the bulletin says.

The white substance is lying on the beach in Hanko in foggy weather.
White substance has still been suspected of paraffin on Monday, but no confirmation has been obtained. The preliminary test results received by the rescue service on Monday afternoon did not indicate strongly to paraffin.

On Sunday and Monday, white substance had been flushed from the sea to the beach about twenty kilometers into the area between the center of Hanko and Tvärminne.

The rescue service stated about half past five on Tuesday afternoon that the substance has now been observed in new areas such as Tulliniemi.

Hanko people cleaned up with their own help

About a handful of local Hanko people arrived on the beaches on Tuesday to clean the substance independently.

– The beaches of Hanko are unique. They must be kept clean. We Hanko people love the sea, Kettunen says on the beach east of four winds.

The substance is crystallized into white clips.

According to Kettunen, the beaches of Hanko sometimes flushed into plastic trash, which he assumes to come from ships sailing in the Gulf of Finland.

However, mainly Hanko beaches are clean, he says.

The rescue service urged me to stay away from the white matter, but the fox is not scared as long as it does not bare hands.

– I’m not the only one who has cleaned the beaches today. We Hanko people are like that.

Dead fish on the beach

A little more white substance was flushed to Ryssholm beach. A dozen dead fish also drifted on the sand in fifteen minutes.

Gun Rajalin from Hanko has found cabbage and orange peel on the beaches of Hanko over the years. He is concerned about how animals survive the white matter.

According to Rajalin, the white matter is \”like spoiled cream\”. The mess annoys him.

– This place is very important to me. I go here every day.

Rescue Department on the scene

About half past three in the afternoon at Ryssholm Beach arrive at the rescue service people to try different cleaning methods.

The membrane pump proves to be suitable for the collection of liquid substance, so the idea is rejected.

They switch to hand collection.
