The city of Lahti starts the yt procedure
The goal is to reduce almost 170 people in a couple of years by not hiring people to replace retiring employees or for temporary positions.
The city of Lahti is preparing to start the cooperation procedure.
The Yt procedure does not aim for layoffs or layoffs. Instead, the city aims to reduce 168 person-years by the end of 2027, for example by leaving the positions of retirees unfilled.
The need for reduction is based on the council’s instruction, which is part of the savings measures of the economic balance program. The council has called for a five percent reduction in staff years from the 2024 budget level by the end of 2027.
The service areas draw up a personnel plan based on changes in the operating environment, service needs and the personnel’s competence needs. The plan assesses the natural exit of personnel, such as retirement and fixed-term contracts, the competence needs of the tasks and possible new job descriptions.
In addition, the mayor suggests that all unfilled posts and tasks should be critically evaluated so that the target level set by the city council can be reached.
If, after the investigations, the reduction of personnel in accordance with the council’s instructions seems unlikely, the city government will re-examine the matter and issue new instructions.
