An artwork made of poplar felled by a storm has been damaged in Oulu

A work of art by Ville Tanhuala carved in poplar felled by a storm
The poplar has been transformed into a work of art by Ville Tanhuala, an artist from Oulu.

A nearly two-meter section of the poplar sculpture of the visual artist Ville Tanhuala, who graduated from the night of the arts, has been stolen.

The wrist-thick part of the sculpture was burned and tarred to make it weatherproof.

The work was completed for Oulu’s night of the arts and it is carved into a poplar tree felled by a storm. An estimated hundred-year-old Berlin poplar fell in the Ahti storm in June 2021.
