The event park of the city of Lahti has had quite a bit of activity during its existence. Next summer there will be two festivals before Midsummer.
There will be at least two music events next summer at the Mukkula event park in Lahti. The event park will host two festivals in June, one of which is the XXL Mössö announced today. Before that, the area will be taken over by the second Soundfest event.
Möysän Musaklubi has previously organized the XXL Mössö event indoors during Christmas time. When Popeda, who had made the decision to stop, asked if they wanted a farewell concert in Lahti, it was decided to make the winter event a summer version as well.
– A large part of the target group consists of business customers, Puhakka says.
Soundfest will be held on June 9 and 10, XXL Mössö a week later. The purpose is for the events to cooperate, which enables, for example, the use of the same stage structures.
Filings are being planned for the event park
A few years ago, the former camping area, which was converted into an event park, has had very few big events, even though it can accommodate up to 15,000 people. The corona pandemic slowed down the establishment of the park as a venue for big events.
– It’s not perfect yet. If you want the event infrastructure to be there in its entirety, there is still a long way to go. In my opinion, the city has a good willpower that at least smaller improvements can be made there even during the next year.
For example, larger changes requiring earthmoving work would require more money.
Antti Puhakka of Möysän Musaklubi says the company has mapped the event locations and asked for the comments of those who used the event park in the past.
– It had received good and constructive feedback.
According to Puhaka, the goal is for Kesä XXL Mössö to be held in Mukkula in 2024 as well.
