Bob Dylan’s book was made by a machine – those who bought the novelty book were sorely disappointed

The publisher sold a limited edition autographed copy of Dylan’s recent book. The signatures on the book, which cost nearly $600, turned out to be made by a machine.

The book was sold in a limited edition of 900 copies. All these pieces were allegedly sold with an autograph written by the artist himself, with a certificate of authenticity. However, it has now turned out that the pen was not used by Dylan but by a machine.

On Friday, November 25, 2022, Bob Dylan published an apology on his Facebook page. He says that he has always written autographs on his artworks, for example, by hand, but during the corona pandemic it became difficult, even impossible.

Dylan says that he suffered persistently from vertigo. In addition, signing almost a thousand books required the help of several people. At the time of the corona restrictions, such a thing would have seemed impossible. This and the vertigo together prevented the naming session from taking place.

Now Dylan regrets the decision and says it was a mistake. He says he wants to fix it with his publisher Simon

– In the publisher’s opinion, machine-made autographs are a common practice in art and literature. That’s why I didn’t see a problem with it, Dylan writes.
