There are feeding places in Laanila, Hupisaari, Hollihaa, Tuira and Meri-Toppila. With the exception of official winter feeding places, bird feeding is prohibited in public areas of the city.
In Oulu, the city is organizing five winter feeding places for birds this winter. The feeding places are in Laanilanranta, Hupisaarte Kiikkusaari, Hollihaanpuisto, Tuira Myllypuisto and Mannisenojanpuisto in Meri-Toppila.
The city has placed the feeding boards in the parks mainly in mid-November, and the boards will be taken away in mid-April. However, the platform will be taken to Laanilanranta at the end of November when the river freezes.
Feeding is only allowed while the boards are in place and food must be placed on the board, not around it. Feeding on the ground messes up the environment and attracts rats.
