The municipality of Ranua has decided to reward all employees of the municipality for extending the corona period by giving them a season ticket to the Ranua zoo.
Aikkila says that the municipality has around 300 employees, whose average age is 47.7 years. The season ticket is personal, which means you cannot lend it to, for example, your own child.
According to Aikkila, the prize was thought about among a few people. Feedback has already come, he says.

Ranua Animal Park is the largest visitor attraction in the region, home to around 50 northern and arctic animal species and a little over 150 individual animals. In the park you can see, for example, the manuli or the Asian aro cat, the mountain wolf or the dhole, and Finland’s only polar bear.
Of the animal species at Ranua Zoo, for example, polar bears, wolves and wolverines, as well as the barn owl, belong to the conservation program, which closely monitors which individuals should reproduce with each other and which individuals should move to another zoo. The goal is to maintain a population of the appropriate size for the species, as genetically diverse as possible.
