Concerts based on video game music are popular around the world and in Finland. They have attracted large audiences, some even dressed up in costumes.
The Kainuu Pops Orchestra will hold a rare concert in Kajaani’s Kaukamets on Sunday. Its music comes from the world of video games.
The concert is the first of its kind in Kainuu.
It was the first modern home console video game to take the world by storm.
According to Tamminen, concerts based on the music of video games have been super popular in the world and in other parts of Finland, and many people have come to watch them, some of them even in costume.
– Around the world, concerts are often made around a certain game. This is the first audition in Kainuu, so now there is everything for everyone. There is Minecraft, League of Legends and of course Commandore 64, among others.
According to Tamminen, arranging video game music for a larger orchestra was interesting because, especially in the early stages, the game music was 8-bit beeps.
– It was fun to pick up chords from there and develop percussion instruments around it. Fortunately, there are also semi-finished adaptations in the world, so you didn’t have to start writing everything directly from the computer.
The proceeds from the concert will be used directly to support the music studies of children and young people from Kainuu through the background association, Kaukametsä musikki ry.
