Lahti City, the organiser of the Christmas opening, is not yet revealing what kind of vehicle Santa Claus will use to arrive at this year’s Christmas opening in the market square.
A long-standing Christmas tradition in the Bay of Balaton is becoming a thing of the past. For decades, Santa Claus arrived at the Christmas opening in Lahti city centre by helicopter, but last year he was transported by fire engine, and the helicopter is still not in use this year.
– As a producer, these situations are scary,” he says.
There are also uncertainties associated with the helicopter, for example bad weather can make take-off difficult, and landing in a marketplace always requires careful planning.
Lahti’s Christmas opening is celebrated this year on November 19. The event includes, among other things, music performances and the lights of the market’s Christmas tree are turned on at that time.
Wirtanen has not yet revealed which game Santa Claus will arrive with this year, but a guest from Korvatunturi is still an important part of the Christmas celebration.
