The Miesniemi formula, which was rejected once, is being tried again in Inari. The plan was presented to the municipalities on Thursday.
Only a handful of Inari people interested in the matter had arrived, but the discussion was lively. The formula received the most criticism for waste management with its filtration fields. The fear is that the area’s wastewater will spoil the delicate nature of the lake.
Those present asked why the hotel project had to be taken out of the reach of municipal engineering in the middle of an almost virgin wilderness.
According to Lokio, the rejected formula has been significantly corrected precisely in terms of waste management. He reminded that it is the municipality of Inari that has hoped for high-quality tourism construction in the area.
– We have made significant improvements specifically to the wastewater system. We no longer believe that absorption works in the area, but we have come to the conclusion that the gray waste water is filtered separately in the area reserved for it. Black waste is removed.
Lokio promised that after the new type of wastewater treatment, no wastewater will flow into Inarijärvi.
Last April, the Inari municipal council rejected the formula by 13–14 votes. In that case, the building right of 500 square meters in Miesniemi in Inarijärvi would have increased to 5,900 square meters. The area of \u200b\u200babout 50 hectares is located in Aaltovaara on the west shore of Miesniemi in Inari.
At the event, Jarmo Lokio presented the preparation material for the Miesniemi beach station plan, and the project owner’s representative, Jukka Puolakka from Polarcon Oy, was also present.
The hotel project was suspected of destroying the natural peace in the area. The audience also wondered about possible light pollution during the dark period.
Mattsson said that he came to the area to find peace and the beauty of nature at the time when he bought a cottage in the area. In his opinion, the massive structure planned for the area will change the character of the entire area.
– Some of my neighbors have already said that the area will become a local Disney World, laughs Mattsson.
The hotel area, marketed as an eco-luxury resort, is aimed at wealthy travelers who are looking for natural peace and wilderness in Lapland. According to Mattson, only luxury will be realized in the project.
– If a night at the Resort costs a ton, it’s luxury, but I haven’t noticed anything ecological in this project.
The quick restart of the formula also sparked a discussion. However, only a few months have passed since the council’s rejection decision.
– Lesonen was already putting his gloves on the counter regarding the plan. He stated that the people of Inari are not yet ready for such a project, but then numerous contacts from Inari on behalf of the project turned the man’s head, said Puolakka.
Lesonen is ready to invest 25 million euros in the area. The employment effects of the project are calculated to be around 30 year-round jobs.
– This does not give a very rosy picture of decision-making if issues are brought up to the council again and again. In my opinion, the formula that has been launched now must have substantial changes compared to the one that has already been rejected in order for it to be accepted, and I do not guarantee that this will be the case, says Tammela.
According to Tammela, in the best case scenario, appeals and court proceedings can be expected in the case before the final decision.
Statements can be made on the pending Miesniemi beach area plan for one more month. After that, the formula is taken to the technical board, the municipal board and finally the council. The goal is to get the Inari municipal council’s decision on the matter by the end of this year.
