The aim of the competition is to acquire one permanent work of art or a set of works of art for Kankaanauki. The artwork should be completed between 2024 and 2026.
In Jyväskylä, 22 entries have been received for the Kankaan district art competition.
The best entries in the public art competition will go forward to the public vote, which started on Friday. The entries for the art competition are available on the Fabric Service website. The two-week public voting period ends on 3 November.
In addition to the three prize places, the proposal that won the public vote will be awarded in the competition. The goal of the competition is to acquire one permanent work of art or a set of works of art for Kankaanaukio.
From the competition proposals, four candidates made it to the A series, which are: Arkkipelago, Haikara, Kielletty alue and Toivekivet.
The winning proposal will be awarded 6,000 euros, and the second prize will be 4,000 euros. The creator of the third place artwork will receive 2,000 euros. In addition, a prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded to one of the audience’s favourites.
Kankaan Palvelu Oy is responsible for acquiring the art.
The implementation of the artwork in Kankaanaukio will start in 2024 at the earliest. The artwork should be ready between 2024 and 2026.
