If the proposal were approved, the joint venture between Päijät-Sote and Mehiläinen would provide medical, dental and mental health services in Hartola.

The Päijät-Häme Welfare Region proposes that Hartola’s social welfare centre services be transferred to Harju Health. Currently, the services of the Sote-Keskus in Hartola are partly provided by the Päijät-Häme welfare association and partly outsourced to a private health company.

Harjun terveys is a joint venture between Päijät-Sote and Mehiläinen, which currently provides health centre services in Lahti, Iitti and Kärkölä.

It is proposed to the regional government that the agreement with Harju Health be extended to Hartola at the turn of the year. It is proposed that this would ensure the continuity of services without disruption at the turn of the year and ensure that the level and quality of service is maintained in the future.

The Päijät-Häme welfare municipality association’s social security central procurement contract with Harjun terveys oy will be transferred to the responsibility of the Päijät-Häme welfare district from the beginning of 2023. The procurement decision made by the group in 2020 includes the possibility to expand the contract to cover the central social services services of the various municipalities in the region. The options of the current contract are therefore also available in the welfare area.

Harju’s health contract includes a wider range of services than Hartola’s current contract with Terveystalo. This would mean that from the beginning of 2023, Harju’s health would provide outpatient care and oral health care services, basic substance abuse and mental health services, medical services in counseling and school and student health care, and health social work services in the Hartola municipality area. When the agreement is implemented, the digital services would also be available to the residents of Hartola.

The regional government will meet to discuss the issue next Monday, October 17.
