Vekka Group, which bought Lahti-based Lehtimäen Liikente, wants more employees. The companies announced on Tuesday the deal in which Vekka Group will acquire Lehtimäki’s local, regional and charter services.

Currently, Lehtimäen Transport employs about 150 drivers, who will continue to work for the company.

– There will be no changes to employment relationships. We rely on a strong brand, professional staff and quality equipment. We see a significant demand for them in the future,” says Vasiljev.

Despite the merger, the 90-year-old Lehtimäki Liikentee’s name will remain on the buses, and the depots will remain in Lahti, Nastola and Helsinki. Lehtimäki Liikente has valid contracts with Lahti region transport for the operation of several lines.

Lehtimäki Matkat was not part of the acquisition.
