In Lahti, the shopping center Syke was evacuated due to a fire – the shops will probably be open again on Monday

The Syke shopping center located on Kauppakatu in Lahti has been evacuated due to a fire.

According to the Päijät-Häme rescue service, the fire started in the grease pot of the Pancho Villa restaurant.

The fire has been extinguished, the rescue service said in the evening. According to the fire marshal, the fire has also managed to spread through the chimneys to the roof of the building, and during the evening it will be ensured that the fire has not managed to spread further in the roof filled with logs.

The guard will probably continue through the night.

The rescue service believes that the shopping center can be open as usual on Monday, the shops are checking their premises for smoke damage.

There were no injuries from the fire.

The alarm about the fire was received on Sunday a little before seven in the evening.
