Founded in 1982, Suomen Lanka operates in Lappajärvi. It produces fish and macrame threads. Reetta Pellikka, originally from Jalasjärvi, lives in Norway today and from there inspires Finns to take up the sticks.
In the justifications for the award, the company is praised for renewing its operations and for living with the times.
Suomen Langa’s operations began with warping, i.e. making carpet warps, when the carpet industry was strong in South Ostrobothnia. The company has switched to making fish thread and macrame threads saved the company through the corona period.
The company is the only one in Finland that manufactures fishing lines, and the products are exported abroad with a dealer network.
– Responsibility and the use of recycled materials have been taken into account very well. The company has a few products made entirely from recycled materials. In addition, the company is actively looking for new ecological alternatives and partners, say Taito Etelä-Pohjanmaa ry and Etelä-Pohjanmaa Pytinki Oy in their award criteria.
