Getting support for operating costs and costs caused by the corona virus was uncertain in advance. The support granted by Traficom becomes necessary when various costs rise.
The Lahti region has been granted state grants for public transport of a good four million euros.
The total amount of 4,085,000 euros consists of basic funding (€1,455,000), the MAL portion of climate money for land use, housing and traffic (€1,000,000), the other portion of climate money (€159,000) and corona support and support for increased operating costs (€1,471,000)
– It was very good that the corona subsidy was received at all, because there was no certainty if it would come at all this year. However, transportation costs have risen significantly, says Särkkäaho.
According to Traficom’s press release, this year the state has especially wanted to support the recovery of public transport from the financial distress caused by the corona virus, which has been worsened by the increase in fuel prices.
