The popular Tampere Light Trail opened – The entrance fee is expected to reduce the number of visitors

According to the organizers, conjuring various sound, light, and video works in the Tohlop forest is a big production, for which mere talkative power is not enough.

The very popular Valopolku opened to the public on Friday in Tampere in the Tohlop forest. Last year, more than 40,000 people came to admire the lights.

In the past, the event has been free, but this year, those over 18 will be charged four euros for entry.

The reason behind the change is the desire to ensure the audience more and more quality content year after year.

According to Huuskonen, it can be assumed that the entrance fee will reduce the total number of visitors. However, he is confident that the quality of the event will once again get people moving in droves.

Beliefs of the forest

This year’s theme of the event is forest beliefs.

– Through the works, you can experience what kind of forest can turn into with immaterial elements, says Huuskonen.

Wooden sculptures made according to the ancient Finnish sculpture tradition and sculptures honoring the return of the forest deer are combined with sound, light and video works to form a multimedia whole.

The Valopolku event is being organized for the fourth time.

Works have been realized by several local artists, students and companies.

Huuskonen believes that light art appeals to people in Finland because of the long-lasting dark period.

– Yes, it decorates and illuminates nicely. Light is an excellent channel for the purpose of use and for visual and aesthetic purposes, says Huuskonen.

Valopolku 2023 is open to the public every day until November 5 from 18:00 to 22:00.
