The website of the Åland shipping company Viking Line stopped working on Thursday afternoon. The websites brought down by the denial-of-service attack were restored only on Friday.
The shipping company Viking Line says that a denial-of-service attack is preventing the operation of the company’s website.
– We have heard that the server blocking attack targets several shipping companies in Europe at the same time, so we are not the only ones, says Boijer-Svahnström.
According to Boijer-Svahnström, the IT department is currently working to get the pages working. On Thursday at noon, the pages seemed to be working again.
– Telephone services have been operating normally during this time. In addition, those who booked their trip during the fall vacation have made their travel reservations earlier, so the server blocking attack has not had an effect on them.
