The cover of the Vaasa band Klamydia’s new album was made by Aku Ankka artist Kari Korhonen.
Klamydia band from Vaasa will release their 21st album today, Friday.
Chlamydia’s album covers have been drawn, humorous and have had well-known artists in the past, but the members of the band have not been seen as Aku Ducks before.
Jokinen thinks that Helin is still collecting batteries in folders.
– There is a man who certainly has all the Donald Duck stuff you can find in this country, Jokinen laughs.
On the trail of grizzly bears
The name of Chlamydia’s new album goes back to the story in Donald Duck about a band called Hytkyvät grizzly bears.
Jokinen tells how after the Hytkyvät Harmaakarhut band’s gig, Veli Ponteva says to the band the legendary phrase \”Diamond gig, hemmot\”.
Since then, the statement has been left to live its own life.
– It has been laughed at and it has remained such a living joke in musician circles that it is heard a little here and there. I had to pay tribute to it and put it as the title on the live album, says Vesku Jokinen.
The highest honor possible
The new album is not the first time that well-known cartoon art is seen on Klamydia’s album cover.
Still, Aku Ankka is a significant milestone in its long history, the pages of which many children of Jokinen’s and Helin’s generation have surely learned to read.
And before this cover image, the band has ended up in the stories of Donald Duck a few times in different contexts.
– In the last one, we try to destroy a concrete wall with Punk hiding. And when I was part of the Vain läää program, one of our people was even made into his own Donald Duck character. I would say that the biggest honor in this country is definitely ending up on the pages of Aku Anka, says Vesku Jokinen.
