Pepe in the woodcutter’s story is a woodcutter who believes in a better tomorrow, even though nothing really gives him a reason. Jarkko Lahti plays Pepe.

Metsuri’s story, filmed in Kainuu and Koillismaa, will be previewed on Friday in Kainuu.

The film was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival during critics’ week last spring.

Metsuri’s story is about Pepe, a kind man from Kainula, whose life is losing all security factors. Nevertheless, he has a positive attitude towards the world.

Pepe in the film believes in a better tomorrow, even though nothing actually gives him a reason: a good-natured man loses his wife, his house and his best friend in a short time, but accepts the tragic events with calm optimism.

In addition to dry humor, Pepe’s story is driven by absurd twists and mystical visions in a small northern Finnish town
