The counterpart of Seiska’s suppliers says that the delivery has a nice atmosphere. Journalisti-lehti reported a week ago in an extensive article about problems in the atmosphere of Seiska’s editorial office.
Seiska’s editorial team has made a reply to Journalisti-lehti, which is related to the article published by Journalisti a week ago. Yle has seen the equivalent.
In the journalist’s article, it was reported that several employees of Seiska’s editorial office are exhausted by the pace of work and the working atmosphere has been bad for a long time.
The response says that Journalist’s article is \”simply not true\”. The countersignatories are twenty employees of Seiska’s editorial office, including several editors and the chief shop steward.
According to the defendant, for example, the story gives an incorrect picture of the result of the personnel survey, the result of which had already taken \”significant leaps upwards\” in the fall of 2021.
Problems under previous editors-in-chief
According to Seikka’s own observation, the claim about the large number of sick leave and the exhaustion of the department is \”drastically incorrect\”. Seiska also disputes claims about special editors’ benefits and \”main editor’s favorites\”.
The response states that there were serious problems in Seiska’s editorial office more than three years ago under previous editors-in-chief, and the criticism expressed in Journalisti-lehti is related to the problems of that time. According to the defendant, the Journalist’s article was published three years too late.
However, the editor-in-chief of the Journalisti magazine, Maria Pettersson, told Yle later on Thursday that not only current employees of Seiska have been interviewed for the Journalisti story, but also those who left the magazine during the current editor-in-chief.
The response from Seiska’s editors continues that \”we are not saying that every employee comes to work with enthusiasm and a smile on his face every day, but probably very few companies can claim that\”.
– Today, however, there is a nice atmosphere in our editorial office and the journalist’s instructions are followed very closely, the reply reads.
The editor-in-chief said he bears the responsibility
– This is clearly a place for discussion and development, Peltomäki said.
Yle asked Peltomäki whether Journalist’s article causes changes in Seiska’s working methods.
– I, as the head of the department, of course bear my responsibility and it is clear that not everyone has received the necessary support, so I have not been successful in this and I apologize for this. In the next few days, we will go over the need for people’s support, how to cope, and we will look for solutions together under my leadership, Peltomäki replied by email.
