The corona also hit the children’s theatre company Superteatteri from Lahti hard. However, the autumn brings new hope, as all the performances of Mr Hakkarainen are fully booked.
The small stage of the Super Theatre is ready for the premiere of Mr. Hakkarainen. The space is small, just 120 square metres, but the advantage is that the actors and audience are close together and the tenacity of a live performance is at its best.
– Let’s hope there is no setback, because this sector can’t take this kind of slump for long. The situation is good in that, now that we can operate under normal conditions, we can also sell out the hall. Last autumn, for example, we could only take 25 spectators at a time,” says Porali.
Many families with children are now eager to go to children’s events and this has also been noticed at the Super Theatre.
– Yes, it is clearly visible. In addition to Herra Hakkarainen, we have already been asked about tickets for Christmas shows. The knowledge that you can now go to children’s events again got people moving, says Porali.
Mr Hakkarainen got the crowd going
– We knew how to expect success, but this surprised us, says Porali.
However, obtaining performance rights was not a given.
– We already applied for the rights a few years ago and then they said no. We decided to wait and now the wait was rewarded.
However, finding successful plays is not easy and timing is also of great importance.
– Of course, everyone would make these blockbusters, but there are not an infinite number of them. If they are running all the time, the audience might lose interest. When they are shown infrequently, in selected places, the audience gets going more easily, explains Porali.
