A 40-storey multifunctional building is planned for Hellälkä in Tornio, which would serve the needs of tourism in particular. The construction of such a building requires a change in the zoning plan, as the current plan allows for a maximum of 20 storeys.

Tornio’s technical committee will discuss the zoning application on Wednesday.

The approximately 120-metre building would be located at the mouth of the river in Hellälkä, where the Toranda event centre, already owned by Hanhirova, is located. The tower house would be the tallest in northern Finland.
