A renovator is on the verge of divorce, but TV’s renovation shows get the job done in no time – “They leave you feeling good”

Interior design and renovation shows have become TV favourites, reaching audiences of millions at best. The latest series is Grand Designs Finland.

– What kind of process has this been, this building process for you?

– You can also cry if you feel like it. “This is the moment,” he continues.

Anyone who has built or renovated a detached house knows that not everything always goes as you would hope. And when it does, crying is not far away – or divorce.

In the international version of the program that starts on MTV, the tension of nerves and the failure of plans may have been visible.

As you can see from the programmes, large windows and light flooding in are now trends in construction.

Television channels are full of lifestyle series related to home, decorating and renovation. The viewer gets to watch how dreams come true in Finland and abroad.

_Dream House in Sicilia_ is a program where an oasis is made from an old mess.

The Danish production _Future Dream Apartments_ looks for new ways of living and the _Dream House_ series tells what kind of houses the Swedes build.

In addition to them, Yle Areena has the Norwegian _Unelmie talo_.

Various television channels search for the most beautiful home and cottage in Finland, carry out extensive renovations and minor surface renovations, and consider whether to renovate or move.

– There are a lot of different series now, and the number has only increased in a couple of years.

In TV shows, the renovation team arrives in clean clothes. In just a moment, the walls will be demolished, an excavator in the yard will lift the buckets from obscuring the view, and the ordered load of building materials will arrive on time.

The whole job, from the first hammering of the nail to the housewarming, has been condensed into just an hour and everything looks wonderfully easy. In Elisa Wessman’s opinion, that is precisely where the charm of the programs lies.

He reminds us that the series do not only appeal to \”decor enthusiasts\ but offer good-natured entertainment to different audiences. vaan tarjoavat hyväntuulista viihdettä erilaisille yleisöille.

– You can sit on the couch and watch a warm program. There is no malice, scheming or shaming in them. They leave the viewer with a good feeling.

Viewers like the stories of ordinary people and home presentations. They get ideas for their own home from the show’s interior architects.

– I too could make or buy something like that at home!

Series of four _Villa

The second season of the reality series, _Remppa vai muutto_ (Nelonen) started last week. In it, the family’s current home is updated from floor to ceiling and at the same time three other home options are presented to the residents.

_Grand Designs Suomi_, starting on September 22nd on MTV3 channel and MTV Katsomo, specializes in construction, interior design and architecture.

– We worked hard to find good sites for the programme,” says Mei Hari, Executive Producer of Grand Designs Finland.

In the first production season, we get to know five different construction projects located in different parts of Finland.

The viewer can watch the completion of, among other things, the smart house, the brick house of dreams and the modern log house.

The work of house builders is presented from the design table to the construction phase and the finished home.

Samppa Lappalainen, host of the _Grand Designs Suomi series_, says that instead of ready-made solutions, families have boldly taken on large house projects without previous experience.

– Making dreams concrete first into plans and finally into a finished house is always a challenging process. Obtaining official permits, as well as the budget and schedule, which always cause surprises, can discourage even the most enthusiastic builder.

_The series is_ based on the popular British format. Responsible producer Mei Hari states that despite the name of the program, not everything is big and expensive in the Finnish version.

– Grand can mean more than enormously big. It can also mean meaningful, special and exceptional.

– For many people, building their dream home or leisure apartment can be one of the most important projects in life, Hari adds.

Building or improving homes is not a new idea as a TV series.
