Queen Elizabeth was not only a model of strict royal protocol, but she also knew how to wit and surprise. For decades, the Queen was one of the brightest stars in popular culture.
He has been the subject of songs, films, TV series. He has appeared alongside James Bond and Mr Paddington the Bear. She has also pretended to tourists that she doesn’t know who the Queen is.
The Queen has been called the most photographed person in the world, and that claim is probably not far from the truth. In addition to her many photographs and pages of history, the Queen left her mark on popular culture around the world.
The Queen knew how to joke, and laugh at herself
Griffin was walking with the Queen near Balmoral Castle in Scotland some years ago when they had come across some American tourists and stopped to chat with them. They had chatted for a while and the tourists had not recognised the Queen.
They had asked Elizabeth where she lived, and if she had ever met the Queen when she was in Scotland. The Queen had replied to the tourists that she has never met the Queen, but this man here has, and pointed to her bodyguard, Richard Griffin.
Tourists wanted to take a picture with him as a souvenir. Griffin had also taken a picture of the tourists with the queen before going their separate ways. After they left, the queen had said that she would like to be a fly on the roof when the tourists show the pictures after returning home, Griffin says in a video by the British media Sky News.
Queen Elizabeth has also secretly participated in a photo where two Australian field hockey players immortalized themselves, giggled with her husband Prince Philip at a bee attack at an official army parade and cut cakes with ceremonial swords because she found it more fun than ordinary knives.
Honourable royalty also in popular culture
In the sketch video shown at the opening, Bond picks up the Queen from Buckingham Palace, then they fly a helicopter to the Olympics and finally skydive into the stadium.
The queen appeared several times as a parody character in the animated series The Simpsons.
Many films and series were made about Elizabeth even before her death, such as the series _The Crown_ on the streaming service Netflix, which is still in progress.
The queen was also an inspiration for music. In the 1970s, the most famous punk band of its time made the song _God Save The Queen_, which borrowed its name from the British national anthem. The song was not well received, as it more or less directly insulted the queen and the monarchy.
The most recent, more relaxed performance by the queen was in June of this year. At the time of the platinum gold party, a video of Elizabeth was released, in which she had a tea time with Mr. Bear Paddington. In the video, she revealed to Paddington that she always keeps marmalade bread in her handbag just in case. Marmalade is Paddington’s favorite treat.
