The city of Vantaa has decided to sell the 50-hectare forest area in Lope to the Natural Heritage Foundation. The forest will be bought and protected with the funds of the Blue Forest collection launched by the Natural Heritage Foundation and the Von Hertzen Brothers band in February.
The Natural Heritage Foundation buys a 50-hectare forest area from Lope. Metsä’s selling price is 340,000 euros. The amount is still running out somewhat, and a new auction will start on September 7, the proceeds of which will finance the sale.
– Preserving natural areas and safeguarding diversity is a common thing for all of us, and we musicians also want to participate loudly in protecting nature. Now there is a place for a thousand taala, when the protection of a wonderful forest area in southern Häme is about to be realized and funds are still needed to make it concrete.
The auction is a continuation of the Blue Forest art auction organized in March.
– It is a really meaningful purchase, and very rare in Southern Finland. There are some incredibly beautiful, big aspens. There are also two lakes with a river between them, where otters, among other things, live. There is a lot of old forest life there.
