So far, the sewer traps have been tested mainly in the city centre, Liipola and Laune.

The City of Lahti continues to use sewage traps to destroy rats.

Traps that work without poison were tested in the sewers of the Gulf for four months at the beginning of the year. The four traps killed a total of about 200 rats, according to the service provider.

The city wants to see how the method works in different seasons, so the sewerage service will be bought for another year. The aim is to find ways to control rats other than poison.

A sewer trap is a device whose sensors react to a rat passing through. The rat dies instantly from the metal spikes triggered by the device. Movable traps have been tested mostly in the center, Liipola and Launee.

Sewer traps have been used, for example, in Varkaus.
