The Touru River restoration project has not yet been given the green light.

According to current calculations and plans, the cost of restoring the river would be almost €9 million.

The Jyväskylä City Government has decided to return the funding for the Tourujoki River restoration project to be reconsidered.

The decision was taken at the City Council meeting on Monday 15 May by a vote of 7-6.

On Monday last week, the city council left the matter on the table.

Work has already been done in Jyväskylä for the restoration of Tourujoki for a decade.

They would like to return the river closer to its natural state, which would enable, among other things, the rise and reproduction of migratory fish in it.

The price of the renovation contract rose by more than a third when the start of the work was delayed by two years due to the appeals process.

According to current calculations and plans, the price tag for the restoration of the river would be almost 9 million euros.
