Tampere hotels are already preparing for the Eurovision Song Contest: big chains close their booking calendars, one plans to raise prices

The major hotel chains want to ensure that there are enough hotel rooms, above all for the organisers of the event, if the Eurovision Song Contest is brought to Tampere.

The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest will be crowned this Saturday. The most enthusiastic have already begun to wonder whether the next edition will be held in Tampere if Käärijä wins in Liverpool.

Both Sokotel and Scandic say that it is not yet possible to book a room for May next year.

– In this way, we want to make it possible to organise the wives here in Tampere at all,” he says.

If there was a win and Tampere was selected as the venue, Sokotel would be the first to discuss the matter with the organizers.

– However, such a huge number of people participate in the fairs. I can’t say at all whether our chain’s 800 rooms would be enough for that, says Kankaanpää, referring to large competition organizations.

Mikko Kankaanpää, regional director of Sokotel.
According to Mikko Kankaanpää, there is no point in trying to book a room in the Sokotel hotels in the Tampere area in anticipation of a possible Eurovision victory.

– However, this is not only due to Eurovision, but to another overlapping event, says Borg. He doesn’t want to say more about it yet.

Borg still agrees with Kankaanpää that if a visa win were to come to Finland, and above all to Tampere, accommodation reservations would take into account the needs of the parties organizing the visas and the employees before the consumers.

Smaller hotels take reservations

Tampere’s smaller hotels say they will keep bookings open for May next year as well.

– There have not yet been any contacts from enthusiastic Viusu fans, but reservations will be made possible if there is a win, he admits.

– We have already planned the profit to such an extent that the price of the rooms will rise immediately if the profit clicks, Alanko says.
