Aiha has made numerous spectacular public sculptures. He was 70 years old when he died.
One of Martti Aiha’s best-known works is the 15-meter high *Rumba* (1992) made of aluminum in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, which has fascinated the public with its ambiguity. According to Aiha, the name of the work, painted black, among other things, refers to the \”rumbling\” traffic at the intersection of Itämerenkatu and Porkkalankatu.
In the middle of the urban traffic in Helsinki, you can also find the 2011 *Länsilinkki*, a curved bridge on Mechelininkatu.
A more decorative style is represented by *Futura – unknown* (1986) born in Oulu and *Futura II* (1989) built in Kuopio.
Martti Aiha, who is interested in the urban space, also had a concept called *Urbaana* in the works for several years, which was related to the additional construction of the center of Helsinki. It would have included pavilions, greenhouses and new buildings.
During her career, Aiha has been awarded, among others, the Pro Finlandia in 1992 and the Prince Eugen medal in 2013.
