Icon’s landmark, the Havis Amanda statue, located on the edge of Helsinki’s Kauppatori, will be moved for conservation today, Wednesday. Moving the statue for maintenance is part of the renovation of the fountain and the surrounding area.

The sculpture’s female figure will be moved to the Helsinki Art Museum’s HAM collection center for conservation.
In the renovation, the statue’s water basin and foundations will also be renovated. Depressions formed on the surface of the square will be repaired, and the traditional stonework will be returned at the end of the renovation work.
The square where Havis Amanda is located will be fenced off as a construction site in May.
The renovation contract is estimated to last until August 2024.
