Lankinen, who died at the weekend, had time to work in the city of Lahti for more than a year.
Lankinen was 52 years old when he died.
Lankinen started as director of vitality and employment services in Lahti from the beginning of 2022. Among other things, he was responsible for the city’s interest monitoring, international affairs and the coordination of event activities.
Lankinen moved to the position from Lappeenranta, where he served as the city’s strategy director. He has also worked, among other things, as CEO of Lappeenranta Seudun Yrityspalvelut oy and civil servant in the Ministry of Finance.
Markus Lankinen spent his childhood with his parents in Germany. He arrived at the age of 15 to study in Lahti. He learned the Finnish language during his studies.
Today, the city of Lahti is organizing a funeral procession in Fellmannia at the city hall today in Lankinen’s memory.
