A state funeral will not be organized for Vesa-Matti Loir – however, a representation from the Government will be there

The Ministry of Education and Culture will contribute to Vesa-Matti Loir’s funeral expenses, says the Government in its press release.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin and Minister of Science and Culture Petri Honkonen describe Vesa-Matti Loir as one of the most beloved artists of the time of independence.

However, the State Council intends to remember Loir extensively. A representative from the State Council will come to the artist’s funeral, which will lay a memorial wreath. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture participates in the funeral expenses.

They hope that after the funeral, the various ministries will prepare measures to honor the legacy of the Loir for generations to come.
