Bio Huvimylly, which has been in the cold for more than 10 years, opens its doors on Friday evening to performers and the public. According to official instructions, a maximum of one hundred people can be present at an extraordinary concert.
After a long time, Raahe’s old cinema Bio Huvimylly will be used for performances late on Friday evening.
– During the preparations, the feeling has become stronger that Huvimylly will once again show what kind of house of feelings and stories it is.
One hundred people, including the performers, can attend the event. No tickets are sold for the concert, but the association behind the renovation project has raffled off thirty places on social media. In addition to the performers and their loved ones, there will be people participating in the renovation of Huvimylly and representatives of the Oulu 2026 Capital of Culture year.
Bio Huvimilly was closed in the fall of 2011, after which it has been empty and cold. This is inevitably reflected in the evening’s concert arrangements, says Tatu Hirvonen.
– There is no heating in the building yet, so our dress code for the participants is to wear plenty of clothes and bring headlamps, and everything will be fine.
In Raahe, a big Huvimylly renovation project is about to begin, the goal of which is to make the protected building more versatile for cultural use than before. The goal is for the facilities to be in use in 2026.
