The city government will consider granting the grant next week. Pelicans oy is supposed to use the structures created for the league finals.
A grandstand for the World Hockey Championships is also coming to Lahti market.
In the square, at the end of April, you could watch the Pelicans’ performances in the league’s final match against Tappara.
Next Tuesday, the Lahti City Council will discuss a proposal according to which Lahdi Pelicans oy would be granted 30,000 euros to cover the costs of the grandstand and market event for the 2023 men’s ice hockey World Cup.
The purpose of the Pelicans is to use the pre-built event tent and area also during the Ice Hockey World Championships in May. The current event area at Lahti Market Square will be kept unchanged, but the area will be divided into an age-restricted and a drinking area.
The World Championships will be held in Tampere and Riga, Latvia. The games start on May 12, when Finland plays against the United States.
