Simo sells Pappila tourist area to a local company – plans include 40 viewing cabins and year-round operation

A few years ago, Simo made plans to develop tourism in the municipality. At that time, a sketch of ideas for the Simoniemi area was drawn up.

The aim is to build an area on the shores of the Bothnian Sea that will attract both domestic and foreign tourists.

The municipality of Simon sells the tourist area of Simoniemi Pappilan to a local tourism company. The council has approved the sale of the seafront area for 280 000 euros to the Simo-based programme company Wonderland of Lapland Oy.

– Planning will take time, but the aim is to have the accommodation ready for use in 2024. The cottages will be made of logs and glass.

At present, accommodation is provided by another company in ten beach cabins in the same area.

The company aims to operate year-round, and thereby offer full-time jobs.

– Accommodation completes the equation. The whole palette is needed in order to extend the stay of, for example, international tourists. Of course, we also continue to cooperate with other companies in the region.

The parish area was for sale in an online auction.
