The hotels in Åland were filled with Finnish tourists in the summer – the end of the year will be focused on Christmas tourism

In Åland, there will be a new Åland is twinkling Christmas events in November-December.

Tourism records were broken in Åland this summer.

A new record number of 55,000 overnight stays was recorded in hotels in July. The hotels were almost sold out in July, the occupancy rate was 92 percent, says Visit Åland in its press release.

Two thirds of all overnight guests were Finns.

The number of overnight stays in the island province increased by eight percent in January–July compared to the same period in 2019.

Åland plans to invest more in year-round tourism. For example, in November and December, the new Christmas event Åland is twinkling will be held on three weekends.
