The national parks of South Ostrobothnia continue to attract a large number of visitors. This year, the number of visitors has slightly decreased from the peak of the corona era, but is still higher than before the corona.

During the beginning of the year, i.e. January-July, 10,000 visits were made to Lauhanvuori National Park and 11,000 visits to Kauhanevan-Pohjankanka National Park.

Visitors have especially discovered the Kauhanevan-Pohjankanka National Park during the corona period. Although the number of visitors has now decreased, the number of visitors is still 30% higher than in 2019. The number of visitors to Lauhanvuori National Park, on the other hand, is 11% higher than before the pandemic in 2019.

Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas Geopark’s most popular area Hämeenkanga multi-use area. The area was visited 44,000 times this year during the beginning of the year.

Metsähallitus says that the number of visits this year is influenced, among other things, by the fact that traveling abroad was again possible and cultural events also attracted people.

There were still enough visitors to the nature sites as well, because in a longer-term view, the number of visits is on the rise.
