Ateneum opens its doors after a one-year break – works presented in a new way

In the Ateneum, which opened after the renovation of the ventilation system, works are no longer displayed in chronological order.

The Ateneum Art Museum reopened its doors after being closed for just over a year for a ventilation renovation. The museum had a large number of visitors shortly after opening.

– It’s great to be here,” says Törrönen, who is a member of the Friends of the Ateneum.

The renovated art museum opened to the public with a new exhibition. The new collection exhibition *The Question of Time* breaks the Ateneum’s traditional pattern of displaying works in chronological order.

The new exhibition has four themes: Nature’s time, People’s pictures, Modern life and Art in power.

– Yes, the old ones can be found here, Wahlström states.

Toni R. Toivonen's Giving Birth and Dying Still work at Ateneum.
Toni R. Toivonen’s “Giving Birth and Dying Still” deals with death and comments on the status of cattle as farm animals.

Ateneum informs that the themes stem from the burning questions of the moment.

– I will definitely come again, Kokkala says.
