A total of six stories were shortlisted. These include a story by Yle MOT on emissions offsetting by state-owned companies and a story by Yle Sport on the inappropriate culture of rhythmic gymnastics.
Two YLE stories have been nominated for the Snowflake Award for investigative journalism. The Association for Investigative Journalism awards the best investigative story with a Snowilapio every year.
– The project, which peered behind a complex business, highlighted the system’s shortcomings. It also forces the viewer to ask themselves whether this is really the way to fight climate change if you don’t want to compromise on consumption habits,” the association says in a press release.
– Through personal sources, the story revealed problems that went as far as the structures of the sport, which in the worst cases endangered the health of top athletes long after their careers were over, the association says.
In addition, for the first time, the association is awarding the Snow Shovel of local investigative journalism, for which three stories are nominated. All candidates can be found on the website of the Investigative Journalism Association.
The recipients of the Snow Shovel awards will be announced on April 21.
