The measuring stations of the Meteorological Institute measure air quality at several locations in Häme.
In the spring, air quality is especially weakened by street dust, which is raised by traffic after the road surfaces have dried.
According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, according to the data collected by the measurement sites in Heinola, Hollola and Hämeenlinna, the air quality index was good during the morning and afternoon of April 6. On the other hand, the air quality in Lahti has fluctuated between good and avoidable at the same time.
In Heinola, the measurement location is on Tiilitehtaankatu, in Hollola on Kuntotie, in Hämeenlinna on Niittykatu and in Lahti on Satulakatu and in Launee on Pohjoise Liipolankatu.

The removal of sandblasting is a pain in the ass
Streets are cleaned after winter in, for example, Hämeenlinna and Lahti.
In Hämeenlinna, the removal of sandblasting sand has started this week at the grid pattern center. The full-scale sandblasting sand removal project will begin after Easter.
The sand is removed in the order according to the street maintenance classification. First, the 1st class fairways are cleaned, then we move on to the 2nd class fairways. Finally, the sand is removed from residential streets and other 3rd class roads.
At the moment, the work is still hampered by the coldness of the soil and the snow and ice on the edges of the roads. However, according to the estimate, the main thoroughfares and light traffic thoroughfares can be cleaned in Hämeenlinna by the end of April.
If the weather permits the work without interruption, all the fairways will be cleaned by mid-May.
