Helsinki’s goal is to develop the Suvilahti area, known for its summer festivals, into a year-round event and cultural area.
The Helsinki City Council has approved the rental and sale principles for the new large entertainment center planned for Suvilahti. The city’s goal is to develop the Suvilahti area, known for its summer festivals, into a year-round event and cultural area.
A year-round framework has been planned for the area, for example for public events and film and TV productions. A hotel as well as restaurant and gallery spaces are also planned for Suvilahti.
The Suvilahti area is known, for example, for the summer music events Tuska and Flow.
The plan change was left on the table in the city council
Suvilahti Event Hub is therefore to design the project’s business concept, arrange financing and build the project.
With the decision made by the city council on Wednesday, the city prepares for a possible plot transfer if the project and the plan change that enables it go ahead.
The plan change regarding the entertainment center was left on the table at Monday’s city council meeting, but the matter was returned to after a couple of weeks. Ultimately, the city council decides on the plan change.
Suvilahti’s new entertainment center would make it possible to organize not only large festivals, but also events for the whole family and sports and hobby events throughout the year.
