Luhta Sportswear Company has managed to recover from the difficult corona years. More people have been washed into the head office in Lahti.
Luhta from Lahte has increased its turnover and made a profit last year.
The corona pandemic tested a company selling fashion and sportswear. In 2022, however, Luhta Sportswear Company’s turnover increased by almost 50 million euros from the previous year and returned to the pre-pandemic level, 245 million euros. The profit after taxes was 10.3 million euros, the company says in its press release.
The company has, among other things, increased the share of wholesale and eliminated brick-and-mortar stores and developed an online store.
Luhta hired 30 new people for its headquarters in Lahti last year. More people are needed, especially for sales, marketing and digital operations. The company has also increased resources in information and communication technology and personnel management.
When Russia started a war of aggression in Ukraine in February 2022, Luhta immediately suspended all exports to the country. The company stopped its operations in Russia, sold 16 of its stores in the country and laid off 136 people.
